2013 has been an incredible year. We opened our beta to the public, launched iOS and Android SDKs, raised our first round of venture investment, doubled our team and took the beta label off Firebase -- and these are just a few!

As 2014 approaches, we wanted to take a moment to thank our amazing developers (that’s you!) for making Firebase what it is today. Your awesome apps and continued support make us excited to keep pushing Firebase forward every day. We hope you have a wonderful 2014 and we look forward to seeing what you build in the new year!

### Here are the top highlights from the last year:

- **January**: we announced our [BackboneFire bindings](https://github.com/firebase/backbonefire) for BackboneJS
- **February**: our beta [opened publicly to all developers](https://www.firebase.com/blog/2013-02-13-firebase-opens-beta-to-all-developers.html)
- **March**: we released our [iOS / OSX SDK](https://www.firebase.com/docs/ios/quickstart.html) and announced [AngularFire](https://github.com/firebase/angularfire), our first-class bindings for AngularJS
- **April**: we launched [Firepad](http://firepad.io), our open-source collaborative text and code editor
- **May**: we [attended AngelHack SF](https://www.firebase.com/blog/2013-05-06-firebase-at-angelhack-sf.html), where 22 teams used Firebase to power their hack
- **June**: we closed a [$5.6M Series A round](https://www.firebase.com/blog/2013-06-20-firebase-series-a.html) from Union Square Ventures and Flybridge Capital
- **July**: we released our [Java / Android SDK](https://www.firebase.com/blog/2013-07-02-firebase-java-android-sdk.html) and announced [Firechat](http://firebase.github.io/firechat/), an open-source multi-featured chat application
- **August**: Firebase left beta and [became a paid product](https://www.firebase.com/blog/2013-08-15-firebase-leaves-beta-today.html)
* **September**: location queries and localized search in Firebase were made possible by [GeoFire](https://github.com/firebase/geofire), our geospatial library
- **October**: to round out our frontend JavaScript support, we released [EmberFire](https://github.com/firebase/emberfire), our Firebase bindings for Ember.
- **December**: we redesigned the Firebase website, laying the groundwork for many more user experience updates to come

We’ve got some incredible things coming in early 2014, to get all the latest news you can follow us [@Firebase](https://twitter.com/firebase) on Twitter and join the Firebase conversation in our [Google Group](https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/firebase-talk).

As always, we’re here to help however we can, so please don’t be shy!
